Roger Preston Stump Sr.

He was born in Lynchburg on January 21, 1945, son of the late Willie R. Stump and the late Eliza K. Stump.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Hall and a brother, Lewis Stump.

Roger was a very active member of Leesville Road Baptist Church where he started Adopt A College Student, a ministry for college students. He loved LU sports and was a real outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved people and never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Peggy T. Stump; three children, Terri Flores, Sherri Stump, and RP Stump, Jr.; a sister, Linda Davis (Roger Scruggs) as well as six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:50 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Leesville Road Baptist Church where a Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 officiated by Dr. Kevin H. Brooks. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Rogers’ memory may be to Hope Tree Family Services, formerly known as VA Baptist Children’s Home where Roger had been a resident as a child. Donations may be sent to, Hope Tree Family Services at PO Box 849, Salem, VA 24513.
