Roger Lee Barbour
April 19, 1948 – December 14, 2023

Roger Lee Barbour, age 75, of Forest, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was the son of the late Oscar Hamilton Barbour, Jr and Ethel Bolling Barbour.
Born on April 19, 1948, in Danville, VA, Roger attended Renan School and graduated from Gretna High School. Roger was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lynchburg, VA. Roger studied at UVA where he first became interested in the computer field and earned his business degree from Lynchburg College. He worked the majority of his career at BWXT in Lynchburg as a System Administrator and retired after 28 years of service.
Roger had a wide array of passions and knowledge. He was an avid collector, and he loved sharing his newest collection when family came to visit. He was passionate about computers, electronics, and sharing this knowledge with others. He was a jack of all trades, and he took pride in being able to build and repair whatever he was faced with, especially old radios. Roger loved conducting genealogy research, and it was often discussed at family reunions with his newest discoveries. Roger loved astronomy and had multiple telescopes he would use to look at the constellations. He loved investigating ancient books and historical texts. He was an excellent storyteller, and he loved to entertain everyone with his stories and making everyone laugh. He was an amazing guitar player, and he loved playing Irish and Folk music.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Barbour Mayo and Joyce Barbour.
Those left to cherish Roger’s memory include his beloved wife Linda Smith Barbour; his children Ann Barbour Iniguez of Richmond, VA; Leslie Barbour of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Josh Barbour of Oswego, NY; his grandchildren Yesenia Iniguez and Valentin Iniguez; his brother Jerry Barbour and wife Sandra of Forest, VA; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Tim Dooley officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford.
Memorials may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
