Robert Thomas Lipscomb, 83, of Lynchburg, loving husband of Betty Lipscomb for 60 years, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born in Lynchburg on March 24, 1933, son of the late Lorenso Samuel Lipscomb and Lelia Viar Lipscomb.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Lipscomb, Johnnie Lipscomb, Lewis Lipscomb and Richard Lipscomb as well as two sisters, Hilda Callahan and Frances Cheatham.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah L. Boehle and her husband Klaus; a son, Robert T. Lipscomb, III “Tee” and his wife April; three sisters, Doris Booker, Loretta Buraker, and Charlotte Harvey and her husband James; grandchildren, Kartley Boehle, Amy Strickland and her husband Shaun, Paul Lipscomb and Christa Bradford; a great grandchild, Drew Lipscomb as well as many nieces and nephews. Two sons, Robert T. Lipscomb, Jr. “Tommy” and Allen S. Lipscomb preceeded their father in death.
He was a lifelong member of Fairview Christian Church, retired from Lynchburg Foundry after 33 years of service, and was a man of science who loved his garden.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Presbyterian Cemetery, 2020 Grace Street, Lynchburg with Pastor Curtis Wheeler and Rev. D. Jack Hamilton officiating.
