Raymond Hundley Hudson, 81, of Lynchburg, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Liberty Ridge Nursing Home, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Ann Thomas Hudson for 62 years.
Born on October 9, 1934 in the Elon area of Amherst County, he was the son of the late Jack and Ada Hudson.
Raymond retired as a Drill Press Operator with Limitorque Corporation after 29 years of service. He enjoyed all sports, especially football and cutting grass. Raymond was a member of Leawood Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Gary Hudson; five sisters, Lena Staton, Betty Dawson, Frances Abbitt, Edith Shelton, and Dorothy Cash; two brothers, Russell Hudson and Woodrow Hudson; father and mother-in-law, Olan and Ruth Thomas; and sister-in-law, Roberta Bowles.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ann Hudson; daughters, Vickie Hudson Stanley and Deborah Hudson; son, Terry Hudson and wife Yancey; two grandchildren, Brian Stanley and wife Christy and Jeremy Stanley; four great grandchildren, Kyler, Bayla, and Kayla Stanley and Skylar Dolan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Liberty Ridge Rehab Center and to special friends, Faye Hipps, Anita and Tony Lowe, and Joyce Spence for their care, support, and kindness during Raymond’s illness.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Dwight Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery.
