Rachel Bagby Talley, 85, of Rustburg, died, Friday, March 23, 2012, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Samuel Spencer Talley. Born April 17, 1926, in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Bagby and the late Hassie Hunt Bagby.
Mrs. Talley was a retired assembler for Courtland Manufacturing, and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Talley was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles S. Bagby, Floyd E. Bagby and W. Melvin Bagby.
Mrs. Talley is survived by her son Cecil S. Talley; her daughter, Nora T. Litchford and her husband Dewitt all of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Angela L. Owens and her husband Randy and Jared S. Talley; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Owens; two sisters, Ruth B. Carwile and Lorene B. Cox and her husband Horace; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy C. Bagby and Kathleen F. Bagby; a special friend Herbert Litchford all of Rustburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Galford officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 2-4 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
