Paul was not just an accomplished man, but he was also a man of character, integrity, and kindness. His life was a testament to his faith, family values, and his dedication to serving others. Growing up in Knoxville, Tennessee, Paul’s parents instilled in him the values of hard work, honesty, and respect for others. Paul's love for learning and passion for engineering led him to attend the University of Tennessee, where he earned his degree. While working on his degree, Paul served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman stationed in Sendai, Japan. During his service, he learned the value of discipline, leadership, and teamwork. Returning to civilian life, Paul began night school to finish his degree and start his career with the Jackson Buff Corporation. His strong work ethic and leadership skills propelled him up the corporate ladder to become the Executive Vice President. Paul's colleagues and employees admired his ability to motivate and inspire others, and he was respected for his honesty and fairness. Paul was also a dedicated public servant. He served as a member of the City Council in Conover, North Carolina for two decades. His commitment to the community led him to help establish the North Carolina Metro Convention Center, where he also served as a member of the board of directors. He believed in giving back to his community and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of its citizens. Paul's faith was an essential part of his life. As a charter member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover, he was actively involved in various ministries, including serving as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and on the building committee and pastor's search committee. His faith was the foundation that guided him throughout his life, and he strove to live according to God's word. Paul's love for his family was evident in everything he did. He was a devoted husband to his wife, a loving father to his son, and a proud grandfather to his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and working on jigsaw puzzles. His gentle nature, patience, and sincerity endeared him to all those who knew him. Paul was a true southern gentleman who lived his life with honesty, integrity, and kindness. He was a leader in every aspect of his life, and his organizational skills were unmatched. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
Left to cherish Paul’s memory is his loving wife of 66 years Geraldine Billingsley Headrick; his son Nathan Paul Headrick and his wife Kerry Kilar Headrick; his grandchildren Ashley Headrick, Lance Headrick, Jack Headrick, Liam Headrick, Caroline Headrick; and 16 nieces and nephews.
