Obituary of Molly D. Willett
Molly DeGroff Willett, 83, of Wirtz and formerly of Roanoke and Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late John Foster Willett. Born on April 15, 1932 in Blair, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Carter DeGroff and Alice Erlougher DeGroff. Molly loved everybody and everybody loved Molly. She was a true Christian in that she never held ill will towards anyone. She always had a hug, a kiss and a smile for all those she met. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and wonder. In her life she loved to travel when the opportunity arose and eventually moved to Smith Mountain Lake where she loved water skiing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends Molly was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta and was a former member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg. Molly is survived by her children, Thomas R. Willett and wife Elizabeth of Salem, daughter Kimberlee Jo Devany and husband John of Ardmore, PA, and daughter Darla Rae Girone of Wirtz; a brother David DeGroff of Omaha, NE, a sister-in-law MaryJane Willett Puckett of Amherst and a step-mother, Hanna DeGroff Martin, 100, of Harlingen, TX; four nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren, and friends both near and far. A celebration of life service will be held at Central United Methodist Church in Salem, VA on Sunday January 17th at 2pm with light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lake Christian Ministries at P.O. Box 659, Moneta, VA 24121-0695 or to the Lung Cancer Alliance at P.O. Box 418372, Boston MA, 02241-8372.
