Mary Burchette Smoot

Born in Danville, December 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry Millard Burchette and Bertha Fowler Burchette. She was retired from Macke Vending and was a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the caretaker of the family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Burchette and Gailard Burchette.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Falk of Cleveland, OH and Teresa Robin Smoot of Silver Spring, MD; two sons, Clarence E. “Chip” Smoot, Jr. of Madison Heights and Mike Smoot and his wife Joan of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Brooke Falk Feher and husband Tom of Cleveland, OH Michael Smoot and wife Cheryle of Leander, TX, Bridgette Smoot and Mary Beth Smoot both of Lynchburg and Eddie Smoot of Madison Heights and 14 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Paul Dakin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the home of her son Mike.
