Born in Nelson County, February 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William Pleasant Ponton and Elma Stevens Ponton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Harlow to whom she was married May 18, 1946; her beloved son, B. Michael Harlow; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances P. and Guy Spencer, and Texas P. and George T. Giles; and her nephew, Ray Giles.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Jason M. Harlow and his wife Julia Rubino and Abbey D. Harlow and her husband Justin Jankus; great grandchildren, Jasper Harlow of Menlo Park, CA, Lucy Jankus, and Michael Jankus both of Wallingford, VT; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Harlow of Wallingford; her nephew and wife, Gene D. and Shirley M. Giles; a special nephew, Rev. C. Randall Harlow, and a special niece and her husband, Linda S. and Carrol Bradley and a number of other nieces and nephews and her friend and neighbor, Rosa Proctor.
Her faith journey began at Cove Baptist Church in Lovingston and continued later in life at Thomas Road Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
Early in her marriage, she worked at Trust & Savings Bank but chose to become a full-time homemaker devoting herself to the care and comfort of her husband and son.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Home Instead, who enabled her to remain in her home that she dearly loved and especially Liz Hamlett, Donna Blais and Denise Simpson. Appreciation is also extended to friends, Joe King, Viviane Mays, Wayne Smoot, Sandy Richard and Ann Pendleton, and to the staff of the Summit Health and Rehab. where she spent the remainder of her years.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. John Campbell, Pastor Jonathan Falwell and Rev. Rick Rasberry officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
