Born on February 8, 1929 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Corrie Glenn Thacker and the late Virginia Bryant Thacker. Marjorie was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where Pastor Dan Dibble is the Minister. She was a member of Fairview Rebekah Lodge since 1993 and a member of Concord Happy Heart Senior with Brenda Walsh as coordinators.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Ernest Lee Dawson; a daughter, Wanda Kay Floyd; a son, Glenn Floyd; two granddaughters, Nicole Johnson Dunn and her husband Mason of Hampton and Rachel Floyd Richards and her husband Justin of Charlottesville; two great grandchildren, Rosalie Athena and Leo Atlas; step-son, Ernest Lee Dawson, II of Dublin and his daughter, Sherry Dawson; step-daughter, Sandra Moore and her husband Daryl of Bedford and their children, Jessica and Brad, along with Sandra’s two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Harry R. Thacker and his wife Linda; sister, Vickie Thacker Beeman and her husband Lee of Rustburg; foster brother, Frank Owen and his wife Deborah of Concord, foster sister, Mildred Godsey of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Helen Dawson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley T. Brown and her husband Walter of La Place, LA and also a sister, Nancy T. Radford and her husband Ronnie.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Dan Dibble officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10 am.
