Marie Gussie Harris

Marie Gussie Harris, 72, Forest, died, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the Summit Health and Rehabilitation. Born July 9, 1940, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late John Rufus Harris, Sr. and the late Mamie Wright Harris.

Marie was a homemaker and a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also attended Hyland Heights Baptist Church.

Marie is survived by two children, Phyllis Johnson and her husband Michael and Michael Page and his wife Amanda, all of Forest; eight siblings, John Harris, Jr. of Lynchburg, Nick Harris and his wife Ruby of Lynchburg, Charles and his wife Kim of Gretna, Pat H. Little and her husband Bill of Elon, NC, Lucille H. Bryant and her husband Ray of Lynchburg, Judy H. Little and her husband Bubba of Brookneal, Mamie H. Hudson and her husband Warren of Lynchburg and Sue Harris and her husband Charles of Bedford; four grandchildren, Billy Roach and his wife Jessica, Brandon Johnson, Wyatt Page and Sophia Page; one great-grandchild, Colton Roach; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Rick Magee officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
