Marian "Jeanette" Tyree, born on December 24, 1947, to Samuel Monroe Jones and Nannie Mae Harper Jones, passed away on June 24, 2024, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Nannette Boswell (Chad) and Helen Cronin (Sean); her son, Duane Hyland (Roberta); and her stepdaughters, Wanda Kirby and Cyndi Youngblood (Rick). She was a beloved grandmother to Joshua Lynn, Sarah Lynn and her fiancé Konner, and Samuel Boswell, and she also had three step-grandchildren. Jeanette leaves behind her sisters, Delores Crumpton and Betty Rollins, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis David Tyree, and one brother.
Jeanette was known for her love of crafts, playing card games, and enjoying game nights with friends and family. She never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Jeanette had a special fondness for the theatre, supporting the Pioneer Theatre with her talents and abilities, especially cherishing the moments when she could help her grandkids involved in theatre. She worked at Central Virginia Training School for over 30 years and shared her love and compassion to all those that needed her care. She loved the mountains and, in her younger years, enjoyed camping trips. Jeanette also had a passion for studying the history of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at Fairview Christian Church, 2701 Campbell Ave, Lynchburg, Virginia, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 1 PM, with a one hour prior visitation beginning at 12 PM. The services will be officiated by Pastor Chris Carter. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia. Whitten Timberlake Chapel is assisting the family.
In remembrance of Jeanette’s life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Trident Services, LLC or to Heritage High School’s Pioneer Theatre.
Jeanette's presence and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
