Born on June 7, 1925 in Campbell County, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Lee Holt and Ora Rosser Holt.
Margaret was known to most as “Mom”. She loved to cook, sew, shop at Belk, and spend time with her family. She was a life time member of New Chapel Baptist Church in Rustburg, where she was raised and was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lee Holt and a sister, Lois Ann Holt.
Margaret is survived by her son, Danny Torrence and wife Cindy of Huddleston; her daughter, Wendy Rafferty and husband Dennis of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Sherry Torrence of Boulder, CO, Crystal Mohler of St. Petersburg, FL, and Ashley Rafferty of St. Petersburg, FL; two great grandchildren, Colby and Hope, also of St. Petersburg, FL; and a very special friend, Virginia Burnette of Rustburg.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at New Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Dooley and Pastor Phillip Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence of Dennis and Wendy Rafferty.
