Margaret Gaddy Gaddy Knight

Margaret Gaddy Knight, 96, born July 20, 1917, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Valley View Retirement Center. She was the daughter of the late Elmo and Lola Arthur Gaddy. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, William (Will) Knight and; two brothers, William “Bat” Gaddy and Saint E. Gaddy and two sisters, Elizabeth Knight and Kathleen Knight.

Margaret and her husband were very active in numerous organizations in the Forest community, giving untold hours in service to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department, Ruritan Club, where she prepared monthly meals for forty-two years and the Recreation Center, where she later served as President. She was a charter member of the Forest Chapter of the Eastern Star and was a member Forest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Knight is survived by her son, Glen E. Knight (Donna) of New Market, VA; her daughter, Laura Knight Bailey of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughters, Jennifer Tharpe (Tim) of Luray and Dawn Knight of Shenandoah and great-grandchildren, Carlie and Amber, both of Luray. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Sally Knight Counts of Thaxton and Anita Gaddy of Lynchburg; nieces, nephews great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2013 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Gaylen Leverett officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
