Lester Joseph White

Lester Joseph White Jr., 92, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. Born on August 31, 1932, in Corinth, New York, he was predeceased by his parents, Lester J. White and Gertrude M. White, and by his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary Jane White. Lester was a proud veteran, serving four years in the U.S. Air Force and four more in the Reserves. He enjoyed a successful career as a mechanical engineer, retiring from Xerox, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. He retired to Venice, FL, where he enjoyed 20 years of golfing and time spent with friends. Lester was deeply committed to his faith, remaining actively involved in church throughout his life, including at Longwood Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by his two children, Herbert White (Marsha) and Alicia VanVliet (Leo); his sister, Virginia Stephens; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Longwood Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor Ross Gilfillen officiating. Whitten Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Timberlake Chapel, is assisting the family.
