Born October 21, 1939 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Garland Edward Evans, Sr. and Catherine Elliot Evans. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary E. Trent and ten brothers, Linwood Evans, William E. “Bud” Evans, Wesley Terrell “W.T.” Evans, Garland E. Evans, Jr., Atron D. Evans, Clark T. Evans, Sr., Calvin Y. Evans, Carroll S. Evans, and Wayne L. Evans.
Kenneth was a retired Firefighter with the Lynchburg Fire Department with thirty years of service and also retired from Evans Radiator Shop with more than forty years of service. He was a veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard and was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church.
Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Kendra E. Meeks and husband Vernon of Rustburg and Kelly E. Mattox and husband Greg of Lynchburg; one brother, Aubrey L. Evans, also of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Christopher Wright, Jennifer Meeks, Evan Meeks, Michaela Mattox and Mallory Mattox and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his girlfriend of twenty years, Eleanor Butterworth.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ian McManamey and the Rev. Brian Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the residence.
