Juanita “Nita” Hughes Franklin, 84, of Concord, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at her residence with her two loving daughters by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Harold Owen Franklin.
Born on February 3, 1935 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. Hughes, Sr. and the late Evelyn Moon Hughes. Juanita enjoyed sunflowers, working in her flowers and cutting grass so she and others could enjoy her beautiful yard. She also enjoyed keeping her grandchildren and Rob who was like her own grandchild. To everyone Juanita met, she would consider them a friend and would call everyone “Darling”. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Hughes.
Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Scarlet DeWitt and husband Blake and Robin Keesee and husband David; a special nephew who was like a son, Larry Godsey and wife Kristi; five grandchildren, Matt DeWitt and wife Cassidy, Lindsey DeWitt and boyfriend Hunter Gordon, Chris Bohon and wife Shana, Zac Keesee and wife Ashley, and Lucas Keesee and wife Maria; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Harry Hughes, Jr. and wife Linda; sisters, Janice Horn and husband Marvin and Shirley Tomlin; her beloved dog Bella, who was her best friend; and numerous other family members.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Rev. Lee Woodcock officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 4:30 pm.
