Born June 25, 1938 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late James Roy and Ruth Ballowe Woodson and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Arrington Kidd; a step-son, Don Tyree; a brother, Cecil Woodson, and a half- brother, James R. Woodson, Jr. She was a retired seamstress with Madison Garments.
Joyce enjoyed country music and played the guitar. She also loved singing and enjoyed gardening.
Mrs. Tyree is survived by a son, Tommy Eagle and Debby Farish of Rustburg; four daughters, Karen Vaughan and husband Tony of Lynchburg, Brenda Allen and husband Randy of Goodview, Annette Mays of Madison Heights, and Janet Jones and husband J.T. of Appomattox; step-son Gregg Tyree of Madison Heights; two sisters, Signora Dalton and Cassie Stewart, both of Lynchburg; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today,Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter, Karen, 229 Alta Lane, Lynchburg.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gentle Shepherd Hospice and to Marilyn and Tammy for their excellent care during Joyce’s illness.
