Joshua James Love, 17, of Lynchburg, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13, 2025, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. JJ was born on March 26, 2007, in Lynchburg, Virginia, and was a Senior at Liberty Christian Academy, where he was well-loved by friends and teachers.
JJ enjoyed sports and during his high school career he played on the JV football team and was a member of both the indoor and outdoor track teams as a sprinter. JJ has a strong work ethic and had been employed at Mission BBQ for the past two years. He enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship of his co-workers and was known for his diligence and dedication.
JJ’s personality was one of ease and fun. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and easygoing demeanor made him a joy to be around. He was self-starter who enjoyed creative and challenging projects and always worked persistently to accomplish whatever he set his mind to. Whether at school, on the track, or at work, JJ's determination and spirit were evident.
JJ had big dreams for his future. He planned on attending Liberty University and had his heart set on becoming a pilot. He was excited about joining the Air Force ROTC and serving his country, an aspiration that spoke to his sense of duty and courage.
He leaves behind his loving parents, Dan and Amy Love, of Lynchburg; his adoring sister, Katie Love; his paternal grandparents, David and Denise Love of Aurora, CO; his maternal grandmother, Patricia Schmidt and her husband, Tim, of Solomons, MD; his maternal grandfather, Homer Pointer and his wife, Dorothy, of Oklahoma City, OK; his maternal great-grandmother, Vernelle Jenkins of Solomons, MD; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will miss him dearly. JJ dearly loved his dog, Piper, who was always by his side.
A service celebrating JJ’s life and faith will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor PJ Preston officiating. Interment will follow in the Tree of Life Cemetery, Altavista.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Thomas Road Baptist Church from 4 to 6 pm.
JJ’s life was full of promise, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He brought fun and laughter to every room he entered, and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
