Johnny Joe Hill, 80, of Appomattox Virginia passed away at Lynchburg General Hospital after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Lula Layne Hill. Born in Arkansas on June 22, 1943, he was the son of Ermond and Marie Hill. He was known to everyone as “JJ”.
Johnny served most of his life in the United States Navy and served tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections.
Johnny loved life and being outdoors. His love for fishing and hunting was one of his passions in life. He always knew where the fish were and he enjoyed being with Lula on some of his fishing trips. He was a big fan of NASCAR and loved following the racers thru the entire race. He was a long member of the local Moose Lodges. He loved to garden and he enjoyed growing pumpkins. He just wanted to see how big his pumpkins would grow.
Johnny leaves behind his love for his wife, Lula. He also leaves behind memories and love for his daughter, Tammy F Riddle (fiancé Tim Link and his son-Adam), his sons, Tony Floyd (girlfriend Wanda), Gary Floyd. His love and memories will be with his grandson, Michael Riddle (Lori) and great grandchildren, Tabitha, Kaylean, and Serenity.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Timmy Floyd.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Whitten Timberlake Chapel Lynchburg Virginia on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11 am with military honors. The service will be officiated by Rev. Sam Stump.
