Born in Camden, N.J., he was the son of the late Delos Olen Ridgeway and the late Edith Forrest Ridgeway.
John was a retired sales person for WalMart and he served his country in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tara R. Torres and her husband, Jorge, of Lynchburg and Sharon K. Clements of Davie, FL; one sister, Donna Gwinn and her husband, Orval, of Ramona, CA; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Reverend Rob Edwards, officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
