John "Jay" George Harrison
April 26, 1931 – June 23, 2023

John G. (Jay) Harrison went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 23, 2023. He was 92 years old.
He is survived by his son, Michael Harrison (Lisa) and 4 grandchildren; Gregory Harrison (Lacy), Paula Watts (Brian), CJ Harrison and Monica Harrison; and their mother, Martha Harrison. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Evan and Reese Harrison and Logan Watts. He is also survived by his sister, Betsy Hall and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Aileene; his parents, George Harrison and Addie Love; His brothers Earl, Earnest, Jack and Lowell and his sisters, Mildred, Tessie, Jean and Hazel.
He worked for VDOT as an inspector for 37 years and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was very proud to have served his country.
He was a long time member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. He loved everyone and was always very giving to others. He was famous for giving away apples.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Chris Jordan officiating. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Franklin Memorial Park, 21440 Virgil H. Goode Highway, Rocky Mount, VA 24184.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
