He was born in Lynchburg, September 30, 1930 to the late Massie Odell Viar and Clara Barton Viar. He was the youngest of six children and was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Elmore, Ellene McGlothlin and Edith McGlothlin and his brothers, Massie Viar and Robert Viar.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Janice Viar.
Jimmie was a US Air Force veteran and retired from the Lynchburg Foundry with 43 years of service. He was a proud member of Sandusky Baptist Church and enjoyed his long tenure in the choir.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Heritage Green where he resided for over seven years. They would also like to thank the Summit Health and Rehab. and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the excellent care during the last months of his life. A special thanks to Wally Blair who assisted in his care over the years.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery with Pastor Ed Vogt officiating.
Those wishing to pay their respects my do so on Saturday and Sunday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Sandusky Baptist Church, which he so loved.
