James Gregory Woodson

James Gregory Woodson of Lynchburg entered the Church Triumphant, on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lemma Price Woodson. He was born in Pineville, KY to the late Dr. Edwin Dupuy Woodson and the late Ellen Gregory Woodson.

Mr. Woodson retired as District Social Security Manager in Salisbury, MD, in August of 1978, having held this position for 25 years. He was a Naval Officer for 2 ½ years in World War II. Since 1989, Mr. Woodson and his wife Lemma (Peggy) resided at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg until she passed on February 25, 2000. Besides being active in numerous Presbyterian Posts over the years at different locations, he took part in many community affairs.

Mr. Woodson is survived by his sister, Ellen Woodson Shipley of Madison, GA and his brother-in-law, Jack Price (Juanita) of Lynchburg; and nephews, Edwin Woodson Shipley and James Carter Black, Jr.

A memorial service will be conducted, 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2013, in the chapel at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, VA

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to the Presbyterian Home and Family Services, in Lynchburg.
