James Irvin “J.I.” Self, Jr., 53, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at his residence.
Born February 20, 1957 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late James Irvin Self, Sr. and the late Florence Mann Self and was also preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Ed Weiss and William Wade. J.I. was an employee of RR Donnelley and was a member of the Grace Church of God.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Self Meade and husband, Bryon and their daughter, Ellison Meade of Richmond, two brothers, Carl Self and wife, Joyce of Madison Heights and Dennis Self and wife, Dorrie of Lynchburg; five sisters, Patricia Wade of Campbell County, Linda Weiss of Roanoke, Carol Pribble and husband, Doug of Rustburg, Deane Viar and husband, Tony of Forest and Brenda Lambert and husband, Jr. of Campbell County and special friend, Debbie Jennings of Madison Heights.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. William Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Diabetes Assoc. or the S.P.C.A.
