He was born and raised in Lynchburg and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
James joy was being on a lake with a fishing pole in his hand and teaching others how to fish. He was a successful tournament angler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Terry Dudley and Grace Moore Dudley and his brother, Ronald Lee Dudley.
James leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jo Anne Woernle Dudley, their three sons, Paul and his wife Karen, David and his wife Angela, and Stephen and his wife Lauren; his two sons, Ricky and his wife Wanda and Chad and his wife Angie; and his thirteen grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Paul Dudley officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service starting at noon.
