Born in Lynchburg, December 20, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Robert Edward Carter and Mary McGurie Carter May. She worked for the Lynchburg Hosiery Mill for a number of years and later retired from General Electric as a supervisor after 28 years of service. She was a member of Southview United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church for 20 years.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Elsie A. Carter and her special friend, Raleigh Aubrey Carson.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Ann Bradley of Evington; four brothers, David E. Carter and wife Janie of Humble, TX, Ronald Carter and wife Cathy of Garland, TX, Tim “Tiny” Carter and wife Cindy of Forest and Jerry Carter and wife Carolyn of Dover, DE; three sisters, Billie June Sublett and husband Harry, Margaret C. Falwell and Angel Moore and husband Tim all of Forest and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge her team of caregivers, Nita, Millie, Darlene and Susan and the nurses and staff of Seven Hills Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
