Herbert Morris Jones, Sr., 77, of Ashland, passed away July 16, 2017, at Memorial Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Primm Jones. Born August 5, 1939, in Huddleston, he was the son of the late Lorenza Loving Jones and the late Bessie Brown Jones.
Herbert was a retired owner and operator of Herb’s Tool Grinding and Sales, Inc. for 26 years, and was a member of New Beginnings Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bedford. He also served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.
In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Jones and Odell Jones; and two sisters, Gaynelle J. Saunders and Shirley J. DeWease.
In addition to his wife, Herbert is survived by two sons, Herbert Morris Jones, Jr. (Patricia) of Lynchburg and Jason Edward Jones (Jessy Forrester) of Ashland; two grandchildren, Bobbi Jones and Brock Jones; three siblings, Lowell Jones (Peggy) of Lynchburg, Margaret J. Moran (Bob) of Huddleston and Sandra J. White of Forest; brother-in-law, Raymond DeWease of Christiansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
