She was born in Evington on August 16, 1918 to the late Henry Clay Morris and Nellie Crank Morris. She was educated in Campbell County schools and graduated from New London Academy in the class of 1935. She was employed by GEICO in Bethesda, MD and Richmond. She retired in 1981 and moved to Lynchburg. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor M. O’Connor.
She is survived by three sons, Paul Gordon and his wife Dee of Las Vegas, NV, Andrew Gordon of Florence, SC and Jeffrey Gordon of Maryland; three sisters, Hazel Lawson of Altavista, Edna M. Little of Evington and Ruth M. Brooks of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Scott Gordon and his wife Leila and Holly Gordon all of Las Vegas and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Alicia Gordon.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Resident’s fund at Autumn Care Nursing Home.
The family appreciates the love and care shown to Etta by the staff and nurses at Autumn Care Nursing Home where she has lived for eighteen months.
