Born in Augusta County on November 28, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Thurston Riddle and Bessie May Riddle.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Murray Wade, and her two brothers, Harry Riddle and Harold Riddle.
Hazel retired from General Electric after 24 years of dedicated service. She was a longtime and devoted member of Tyreeanna United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting and cherished moments with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Granny.” Known for her generosity and loving nature, Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her two sons, Stephen M. Wade and his wife Dinah, and Kenneth R. Wade and his wife Martha; six grandchildren, Daniel Wade (Megan), Jacob Wade, Jonathan Wade (Nikki), Christopher Wade (Grace), Jeremy Wade (Jennifer), and Megan Wade; one great-grandson, Grady Stephen Wade; and a number of nieces and extended family members.
A service celebrating Hazel’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
