Genevieve Tyree Mays

Born October 26, 1929 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Walter and Nettie Woody Tyree and was also preceded in death by twelve siblings. Mrs. Mays was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Mrs. Mays is survived by one son, Irvine Allen Mays, Jr. and wife Dolly of Lynchburg; two daughters, Sharon M. Holt and husband James, also of Lynchburg and Kathy M. Smardak and husband Mike of Nashville, TN; one sister, Frances Trent of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Christy Ann Holt, Marcie Rae Harbour and husband James, Kara Nicole Hensley and husband Bradley, Sasha Smardak, and Kristina Smardak and four great-grandchildren, Tristan and Tyler Harbour and Kamren and Kylie Hensley.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles Anderson officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
