

Born on May 11, 1948 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Robert Merle Stern and Helen Thompson Stern.
Wayne worked at Reams Furniture for 34 years and continued his successful sales career at Grand Home Furnishing for the last 11 years, where he received the Diamond Presidential Award for 9 consecutive years.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Stern.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his three sons, Kelly S. Stern (Jeff), and Todd Stern, both of Richmond and Dennis Spradlin (Kim) of Lynchburg; his two brothers, Robert M. Stern (Georgia) of Forest and Joe T. Stern (Carol) of Lynchburg; his two sisters, Mary Lois Tomlin of Lynchburg and Jean Crickenberger of Lynchburg; four granddaughters, whom he adored, Cadence Stern, Erin Spradlin, Shelby Spradlin, and Kori Spradlin; one great-granddaugher, Maggie Cox; six sisters-in-law; and many other friends and relatives who loved him dearly.
Anyone who ever met Wayne would agree he was such a kind and giving soul. Wayne stood for honesty, integrity, and humility. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Melvin Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends anytime at Elaine and Wayne’s residence.
