Born December 3, 1923, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Marshall Almond and Carrie Wooldridge Almond. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Calvin, Earl, and Leon Almond; and her sister, Doris West.
Survivors include four children, Sandra Yudowitch and husband Mark, of Lynchburg, Monica Campbell and husband Kevin, of Rustburg, Barbara Babcock and husband Webb, of Amherst, and Roger Coleman and wife Debbie, of Madison Heights; her brother, Pete Almond and wife Susie, of Arkansas, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, and at other times at the residence of her daughter Sandra.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2013, in Fort Hill Memorial Park, by the Rev. Becky Cloud and the Rev. Phil Showers.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24502, Parkview Community Missions, 621 Court Street, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or to Centra Hospice, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503.
