Born in Nelson County, October 30, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Lynwood Coffey and the late Mary Catherine Wright Coffey. She was a 1933 graduate of Brookville High School where she played on the first girls’ basketball team. She retired from Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp., was a member of the Rebekah’s and longtime member of Forest Road United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice C. Wright and Frances C. Smith, two brothers, Fletcher M. Coffey and Jessie P. Coffey and her beloved dog Smokey.
Survivors include nephews, Charles Miller, Leroy Coffey, Eddie Coffey and Wayne Wright and nieces, Phyllis Dodl and Marion Saunders.
The family would also like to gratefully acknowledge Barry Lambert and Joann Brantley, her caretakers and the staff of Centra Hospice for the loving care they provided to her.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Mike Huffman and the Rev. Ron Litten officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013 at the funeral home.
