Born in Lynchburg on December 29, 1942, Elaine was the daughter of the late Lewis Steven Alcock and Cara Haymes Alcock. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman throughout her life, beginning her career as a registered nurse before retiring as a Human Resource Specialist. Elaine was deeply committed to her faith and her church, Redeeming Grace Baptist, where she served as the organist for over 30 years.
In her free time, Elaine found joy in crocheting beautiful blankets for her family and friends, and in tending her garden filled with flowers and vegetables. Her family was her priority, and she cherished creating lasting memories with her grandchildren, especially on trips to pumpkin patches and apple orchards.
In addition to her husband, Elaine is survived by two sons, Michael Ballagh (Debbie) and Steven Ballagh (Deborah); four grandchildren, Michael S. Ballagh, Luke Ballagh, Maximilian Ballagh, and Abigail Ballagh; one step-grandson, Ben Bergin; two sisters, Suzanne Fulcher and CaraLu McConville (Allen); and a host of extended family and friends.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
