She was born on March 3, 1938 in Fairmont, WV and was the daughter of the late James Betts and Dorothy B. Ach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Hershel Von Fortney and her grandson, Zachary Von Jones.
Dottie retired from Lynchburg Eye Physicians and Surgeons as a Certified Medical Assistant. She was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Liberty Chapter No. 109 in Bedford and was a member of Forest United Methodist Church where she was the choir director for over 25 years.
She is survived by her children, Debra Jones and her husband Barry of Spout Spring, Bonnie Lipscomb and her husband Art and Kathy Jones and her husband Jerry, both of Forest; a sister Toni Demoss of Lynchburg; brother-in-law Mark Trent and his wife Diane of Falls Church; six grandchildren, Christopher Jones and his wife Lohryn, Brandon Jones and his wife Anneliese, Matthew Lipscomb and his wife Meghan, Michael Lipscomb and his wife Nicole, Brandi Jones and Brian Jones; eight great-grandchildren, Sydnie Jones, Eli Jones, Cole Jones, Harper Jones, Roman Lipscomb, Isla Lipscomb, Leila Lipscomb and Theodore Lipscomb.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be conducted on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Bill Burleigh officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
