Dennis Wade Henderson

Dennis Wade Henderson of Lynchburg passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Lynchburg General Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Warren, Ohio on January 11, 1958, he was 65 years old. He was the son of the late Judith Presley Henderson and Clarence Leon Henderson.

Dennis was a graduate of Brookville High School and Bridgewater College. He was a Master Electrician and an accomplished sky diver. He loved figurines and gadgets, and after his first attempt at counted cross stitch, he became quite talented at the craft and produced many intricate and amazing pieces. He was a longtime member of Starfleet International and was devoted to the local chapter, Heimdal Science Fiction where he served on the Space Camp Committee; sending a local area student to NASA’s Space Camp annually.

Dennis was that quiet, thoughtful, strong and dependable pillar. If he said he was going to do something he could be depended upon to do just that. His friendships were deep and lasting.

Dennis was devoted to his family and his grandchildren that survive him including a daughter, Jennifer K. Long, a son, Mark B. Henderson and wife Yesel, a grandson, Darrell W. Spencer and granddaughters Alexis K. Spencer and Briana G Spencer. They will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send a donation to Heimdal Science Fiction’s Space Camp Program. As a member of the club’s Space Camp Committee Dennis was very proud of what the group was able to do for youth within the community.
