Claude Swanson "Shorty" Waller

Born on October 29, 1934 in Long Island, he was the son of the late Elwood Benjamin Waller and the late Lucy Brooks Waller. Claude served our country in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the US Postal Service. He was an avid reader and a member of Redeeming Grace Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Garland Waller and Anderson Waller and a half-sister, Doris W. Shorter.

Claude is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Smith and husband David; three grandchildren, Ben Smith, Carolina Smith, and Nikki Smith; and a sister, Frances Martin and husband Burnette.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Ed Vogt officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.
