Charles was married to his wife Angie for 63 years before she passed away in 2008.
He had a very successful career with 30 years of service with the Federal Government. He played an important role in establishing the early Job Corp Centers as well as Peace Corp Centers in various countries, while part of the State Department.
After retiring, he moved from Northern Virginia to Melbourne, FL and enjoyed golf, traveling, the gym, friends, and get-togethers.
In 2006, he and Angie moved to Lynchburg to be closer to family.
He is survived by his son Ronald Gabaldon and wife Linda of Lynchburg; grandson, Chris Gabaldon and wife Kim of Ashburn; two great grandchildren, Grand and Grace; a special cousin, Cecelia Estrada of CA; sisters-in-law, Carmen Olivas and Donna Gutierrez both of CA; and a very special friend, Donna VanDyke of Bedford.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Centra Hospice and Heritage Green Assisted Living for their wonderful care during Charles’s illness.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Reception on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 1 to 2:30 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
