Catherine Sue Pearce passed away at the age of 64 on the afternoon of Thursday May 18, 2023 after a brief but critical illness. Cathy lived in Madison Heights, Virginia and was the daughter of William Henry Pearce and Jeanine Winona Bomar Pearce.
Cathy’s immediate family included her brother, Sandy Pearce, his wife, Donna, and their children - Cathy’s beloved niece and nephew, Julie Pearce and Todd Miller, along with their significant others, Kurt Gadarowski and Cheri Quinn, respectively, as well as Todd’s four daughters: Emma, Camryn, KeKe, and Bailey, In addition, Cathy’s family members included Owen and Pat Brodie of Richmond, their daughter, Beth Venn and her family, Michael, John Hamilton, and Laurel of Parkton, Maryland; Betty May Hamilton of Dover, Delaware, as well as first cousin, Ford Hamilton of Elkton, Maryland and his sisters.
Cathy’s family circle extended beyond traditional blood ties to include many friends of old bonds and newer ones. Colleagues became friends and dear friends became family over the years. Professionally, many knew her from her most recent position as Director of Sales at LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Lynchburg and as an active participant in the Lynchburg Business Alliance. Prior to that, Cathy served as Conference Services Manager at Wintergreen for several years. Cathy was also a talented artist and painter throughout her life. Her work was, at times, fantastic and mysterious and at other times, vividly captured the essence of reality, particularly in the portrayal of animals.
Cathy was perhaps bound closest of all to the many wonderful four-legged creatures who shared her life over the years, notably Gargoyle and Merlin whom she cherished most deeply.
