Carlton was a faithful and devoted member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church, having sung in the choir for numerous years and taking part in many of their services and performances. The music ministry was an important part of his life and spirit. Outside of church, he had a bustling social life with his McDonald’s friends, sharing stories and laughs over fries and apple pies. He never missed an opportunity to dance, having waltzed, flat-footed, and square danced at least a million miles around the floor at New London Ruritan Club. Carlton was a one-of-a-kind character. He loved joking, laughing, and sprinkling conversations with “Carlton-isms”.
