Born on April 6, 1952, in Staunton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Faye Floyd. She was the granddaughter of the late Annie Mae and Roscoe Floyd, William B. Campbell and Lena B. Campbell. Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clarence E. “Sonny” Witt; one son, Tony Witt; one sister, Louella Maxey; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Martin, Betty Jean Robinson, and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Bryant and David Maxey Sr.
Brenda was the co-owner and operator of Countryside Florist in Rustburg for over 30 years until she retired. She made many dear friends along the way, including a very special friend, June McHaney.
She spent summers at her grandmother’s house in Montebello, where she helped with gardening, picked strawberries, and gathered eggs—though more than once she got more than she bargained for (chicken lice!).
She loved music of all kinds, especially gospel and bluegrass, and her love for flowers was evident in and around her home. Brenda was a very loving and caring person who adored her fur babies.
She was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024. Despite facing not only cancer but also a stroke and a broken hip, she continued to fight and push through every obstacle.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Connie Witt; three grandsons, Tyler E. Witt (Megan), Joshua C. Witt, and Rodney V. Allen Jr.; three granddaughters, Lena Grace Witt, Katelyn Campbell (Ben), and Brandy Bryant; one great-grandson, C.J. Souther; three sisters, Patricia Bryant, Paula Robertson (Bill), and Debbie Goode (David); one brother, Larry Cash (Cheryl); sister-in-law, Alice Arrington, and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dustin Allen for his dedicated care over the years, as well as to Dr. Elakkad, Dr. Angel Medina Barrio, Dr. Cecilia MacCallum, Enhabit Home Health, the physical therapy team at Fairmont, and all the caregivers who helped in the home.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Spring Hill Cemetery.
