Beverly Davis Lowry, 79, of Forest went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 2, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles G. Lowry.
Born in Houston, Texas, March 25, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Ivy Edward Davis and Josephine Alice Weldon Davis. In 1978 her husband, Charles, closed a successful law practice in Houston, Texas, and they moved to Lynchburg. In 1980, at the age of 46, Bev entered Liberty Baptist College now Liberty University and graduated summa cum laude four years later. She received a Master's Degree in Education from Lynchburg College. Bev was a psychology professor at Liberty University for over 17 years and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church where she was a featured soloist on the “Old Time Gospel Hour" for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Will Carter and her sister, Betty Brinkley.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Charles Michael Lowry and his wife Natashia of Forest and Mark Alan Lowry of Houston, TX; one daughter, Melissa L. Carter and her husband Charles of Lynchburg; six grandchildren Christopher Lowry, Courtney L. Tate and her husband Josh, Chad Lowry, Chelsea Lowry, Zac Carter and Katelyn Carter and a number of nieces and nephews and other extended family.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
