He was a proud Air Force Veteran, followed by careers at Westover Dairy and BWX Technologies, Inc.
His self-taught expertise as a handyman and mechanic empowered him to assist countless individuals. He possessed an unparalleled ability to build and fix virtually anything. In his later years, he found immense joy in Karaoke and cherished his love for music.
He leaves behind a legacy survived by his loving family, including children David Jones and Susan Cyrus, daughter-in-law Melissa Taylor, grandchildren Daniel Cyrus and Allison Jones; siblings Betty Epperson, Samuel Jones, Elaine Covington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Gladys Jones, son Douglas Jones, siblings Nancy Jones, Garland Jones, Shirley Meeks, and brother-in-laws Robert, Edward, and Albert Worley.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Samuel Jones officiating. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so by visiting Whitten Timberlake Chapel on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 9-5.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in the form of bicycles for children in need. His tradition of acquiring bikes from yard sales, restoring them, and gifting them to children will continue to bring smiles and joy in his memory.
