She was born in Bedford on July 13, 1942, daughter of the late Ernest and Ila Wilkerson.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Couch, Jr.; and one son, Richard W. Couch, III.
She was the retired owner of Lake Vista Realty and a member of College Hill Baptist Church. During her many years of active civic volunteer duties she had been, President of the Lynchburg Exchange Club, Secretary of the Virginia District Exchange Club, Secretary of the Greenstone Social Club, and Vice President of the Church Council of Our Savior Lutheran Church as well as being involved in numerous other clubs and organizations in the Lynchburg area. She had also been organist of Our Savior Lutheran Church and was currently organist for College Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by two brothers, James “Jimmy” W. Wilkerson and wife Sandra, and Ernest “Buddy” R. Wilkerson, Jr. and wife Monika; two step children, Darden Couch and wife Patricia and Whitney Couch as well as three step grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Suit officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the funeral home.
