

Arnold “Ray” Rayford Willard, 79, of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Carol Brown Willard. Born October 23, 1936, in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Everett Willard and the late Carrie Boyd Willard.
Ray was a retired electronics technician and a previous letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he served for 28 years. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, and served our country in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Willard and Roscoe Willard.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his daughter, Denise C. Willard of Reston; one sister, Lurene W. Bowman of Fancy Gap; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Heritage United Methodist Church with the Rev. Will Montgomery officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will take place 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, VA.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2015, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
