Ariel Frederick Falwell, 86, of Lynchburg, passed away, Monday, June 9, 2014, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nancy Kelly Falwell. Born September 14, 1927 in Albermarle County, he was the son of the late Urban Edison Falwell and the late Ruby Lawrence Falwell.
Ariel was a retired owner and operator of Nite Gallery and Forest Hills Motel and Steakhouse. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and was known for never meeting a stranger.
Ariel is survived by his daughter, Diane F. Childress (Bill) of Lynchburg; five siblings, Don Falwell (Loretta) of Madison Heights, Lillian F. Miller (Dick) of Asmont, Jean F. Hicks (Tommy) of Lynchburg, Sara F. Roach (Kenny) of North Garden and Karen F. Baber (Eddie) of Scottsville; two grandchildren, Ariel “Kelly” W. Eller (Trae) of Cary, NC and David T. Childress of Cary, NC; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Eller, Addyson Eller and Rachael Eller of Cary, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with the Rev. Keith Vinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
