Annie Davis Roach, 93, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Langdon “Lyle” Carlyle Roach. Born October 13, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late James Washington Davis and the late Rosa Compton Davis.
Annie was a homemaker, and a member of Straight Stone Baptist Church. She also served our country in the United States Army-WAC/88th Glider Unit in World War II.
In addition to her husband and parents, Annie was preceded in death by six brothers, Felix Davis, Aubrey Davis, Dave Davis, Otha Davis, Giles Davis and Kenneth Davis; and four sisters, Eva D. Moore, Mary D. Roach, Ruth D. Woodson and Arlene D. Jones.
Annie is survived by her daughter, Gladys Roach Nines and her husband Carl of Carthage, NC; one brother, Jimmy A. Davis of Lynchburg; one grandson, Carl E. Nines, Sr. and his wife Lisa of Southern Pines, NC; one great grandson, Carl E Nines, Jr.; one great granddaughter, Audrey Nines; close friends, Jackie Gilbert and Bess Farber, both of Lynchburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating. Interment will follow at the Lynchburg Brethren in Christ Cemetery in Campbell County, where Military Honors will be presented.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12-1 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
