Mrs. Jessie B. Locklear, 85, of 1255 Indian Heritage Road, Lumberton NC was born on November 12,1926 and departed this life on October 27, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Lumberton.
Mrs. Locklear was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, but more importantly she loved the Lord. She was a long standing member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Some of the things she enjoyed were family, cooking, fishing and traveling. She was born in Robeson County and was a loving daughter of the late Robert and Lizzie Graham Sampson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lacy Locklear, a daughter-in-law Doris Locklear, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, a grandchild and a great grandchild.
Mrs. Locklear leaves to cherish her memory; two sons; Lacy Locklear Jr. and wife Agnes and Tony Locklear both of Lumberton. Three daughters; Patsy A. Locklear and husband Cardell of Fayetteville, NC Linda Sampson-Locklear of Lumberton and Sandra Akers of Quincy, IL. 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. One sister, Florence Lowery and husband Robert of Lumberton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 2:00 P. M. in Biggs Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Romey Revels and Bishop Kenneth Locklear. Mrs. Locklear will be laid to rest in Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P. M. Monday, October 29,2012 at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton and at other times at the home, 1255 Indian Heritage Road, Lumberton, N. C.
