Virginia Walters Fulcher

Virginia Walters Fulcher, 77, of Wiggins, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospice. Visitation will be Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 5:00 until 6:00pm at First United Methodist Church of Wiggins with services immediately following. A private burial service will take place on Friday, March 17, 2023, in Lumberton.

She was preceded in death by parents, John R. and Ceal Walters; a brother, Carl Walters; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Nicole Fulcher.

She is survived by her son, John Fulcher (Andrea); her daughter, Monica Marlowe (Richard); and three grandchildren, Ryan Fulcher, Hayden Miller, Wesley Miller and Lily Reed.

Virginia is a graduate of the Lumberton Line Consolidated School District and Pearl River Junior College. Throughout her life she worked as a Southern Bell telephone operator, Bank of Lumberton teller, the municipal court clerk for the City of Wiggins, and as the office manager for Taylor & Taylor Law Firm. Virginia was also an owner and manager at her family’s jewelry store—Fulcher’s Gold Shop.

She enjoyed sewing, loved cooking, and had a strong resolve that helped her beat the odds over the course of an extended illness. She loved her family, friends, and community; and had a quiet, steady faith.
